FREIGHT SONG WORKSHOP!!!!!!
Freight and Salvage Songwriting Workshop!
An Art of Songwriting Workshop will take place soon in Berkeley! The workshop will meet on November 12th and 19th for two Wednesday evening sessions for three hours from 7pm to 9pm in Downtown Berkeley at the New Freight and Salvage 2020 Addison Street. The final two-hour session will take place at the Freight on Saturday, November 21st, at 1pm.
All participants in the Workshop will be invited to perform on stage at the Freight during the Nov. 21st session in front of an audience at a Freight Open House. The performance will be optional and Workshop participants may choose not to perform.
The Art of Songwriting Workshop Instructor, Jim Bruno, is a published songwriter and has had songs he’s written or co-written recorded by Shawn Colvin, Mary Lou Lord, Chuck Prophet, Cliff Eberhardt (with John Gorka), Thad Cockrell and Laurie MacAllister. He currently teaches Songwriting at Foothill College in Los Altos, CA.
In this three-session workshop, Jim will work as a coach for people who have begun writing songs, rather than complete novices, focusing on rewrites and developing new material, covering topics such as song structure, poetic devices, melody, co-writing, song concepts, and rhyming schemes. You don’t need to know how to read music to participate. Jim’s approach is one of positive reinforcement while providing a supportive environment in order to stimulate creativity. An emphasis will be on enjoying the creative process!
Total cost for the Songwriting Workshop is $75.50. Space will be limited to only 20 participants so be sure to register early online at
